The Staff That Makes Us Special

Genie Theile, Client Care Manager
Central Broward Animal Hospital Family Team Member Since 1998
Genie joined the staff of Central Broward Animal Hospital in 1998 and is our client care manager. She considers the staff and the clients at Central Broward Animal Hospital a second family and is thankful to be able to work with such wonderful people and their pets. Genie is also proud to be a part of the bond the hospital shares with the Plantation, Florida community. She has a sense of humor and special connection to our more senior clients and loves seeing our clients' relief at hearing good news about their pet.
A Hawthorne, New York native, Genie is a graduate of the State University of New York at Genesco, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
Genie and her husband Skip have two grown children, Sara and Gavin. At home, they care for two Dachshunds, Bella and Bentley, and a cat named Rocky. She also loves her three grand-dogs, Blane, Blaze and Buster. In her free time, Genie enjoys photography and astronomy and learning how to master the telescope.
Sabrina Lewis, Client Education Manager
Central Broward Animal Hospital Family Team Member Since 2003
Sabrina joined the Central Broward Animal Hospital staff in 2003, bringing with her years of professional experience caring for animals. Born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised here in Plantation, she spent four years in the U.S. Navy and lived in Lago Patria, Italy for three years while attached to a NATO base.
Her expertise as a client education manager has quickly made her a valuable asset to the hospital team. She has many responsibilities to the practice and our clients and is especially passionate about our annual Howl-o-ween Adopt-a-thon fundraising event which she coordinates.
Along with the opportunity to see a wide variety of pets and their families every day, Sabrina also appreciates the Central Broward Animal Hospital team she works with. “I love that we're all like a family and we enjoy getting together at work and out of work,” she says.
Sabrina lives in Plantation with her son Sebastian and fiance’ Dino. They have four cats (all rescue) Joey, Cookie, Abby and Sullivan. Joey is a one eyed tuxedo cat that was rescued at Central Broward Animal Hospital when he was found attacked by birds. Cookie is a tabby that was found in the street in Dania Beach. Abby is a Russian Blue that was adopted from Animal Aide and Sullivan is an orange tabby that Sabrina and her family adopted from our very own Adopt-a thon Event.
Her hobbies include baking, traveling, movies and taking photos with her iPhone.
Tara Samaniego, Head Veterinary Nurse
Central Broward Animal Hospital Family Team Member Since 2000
Tara joined Central Broward Animal Hospital in 2000. As our head veterinary nurse, Tara is responsible for assisting our doctors during examinations and surgery and managing all aspects of patient care. Although born in West Virginia, Tara moved to Florida at a young age and calls Plantation her home town.
A graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School and Florida Atlantic University, Tara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She cites our collective commitment to our patients' welfare as the main reason she likes working at the hospital. “We're all like a family and we care very much about each other,” she says.
Tara shares her home with her husband Jaime, daughter Makayla and three cats: Jaga, Athena and Pandera, all rescues from the hospital.
Aldo V. Lorenzo Peña, Animal Care Manager
Central Broward Animal Hospital Family Team Member Since 1999
A veterinarian in his native Cuba, Aldo has over 25 years of veterinary care experience. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of Havana, Cuba, and he holds a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine as well as technician certificates in laboratory science and animal reproduction. Since joining Central Broward Animal Hospital in 1999, his expertise has been invaluable to the hospital and he is now the animal care manager. When asked what he most likes about his work, Aldo says it is the feeling of gratitude he receives from pets he cares for.
When Aldo isn't working at the hospital, he enjoys movies, reading, biking, jogging or traveling. He has two cats, Koosa and Chantel.
Shea and Chase, Hospital Mascots and Greeters
Ever since they were puppies, Shea and her younger brother Chase have been eagerly greeting the visitors of Central Broward Animal Hospital with a wagging tail and a big smile.
Both are Dr. Wald’s family dogs and travel back and forth to work with him. Chase always gets excited when Dr. Wald is putting on his scrubs at home as Chase knows he is coming to work. Shea has a tendency to avoid the leash and car ride in the morning. She would rather stay at home to chase the squirrels, but once at the hospital she enjoys greeting everyone.
